Strong Neodymium Magnet Discs

Neodymium (also known as "NdFeb", "NIB" or "Neo") disc magnets are the most powerful rare-earth magnets available today. Available in disc and cylinder shapes, neodymium magnets have magnetic properties that far exceed all other permanent magnet materials. Neodymium magnet discs are high in magnetic strength, moderately priced and able to perform well in ambient temperatures. As a result, they are the most widely-used rare-earth magnets for industrial, technical, commercial and consumer applications.

Neodymium Disc Magnets in Premium Grades & Finishes

We carry an extensive inventory of neodymium disc magnets in premium grades range from N30 to N52, which is the highest grade available in today's market. Finishes include nickel plated, gold or uncoated, and sizes range from micro-sized disc magnets measuring 0.1" in diameter to large cylinder magnets that hold up to 68 lbs.

Neodymium Disc Magnet Features & Characteristics

Neodymium Magnets Approximate Pull Information

*Note: The approximate pull info listed is for reference only. These values are calculated assuming the magnet will be attached to a flat, ground 1/2" thick mild steel plate. Coatings, rust, rough surfaces, and certain environmental conditions can significantly reduce the pull force. Please be sure to test the actual pull in your application. For critical applications, it is suggested that the pull be de-rated by a factor of 2 or more, depending on the severity of a potential failure.

Neodymium Disc Magnet Manufacturing Methods & Finishes

Our neodymium discs are sintered for optimal magnetic strength. Unless otherwise specified, these disc magnets are magnetized axially (the magnetic field runs through the thickness of the magnet, with each pole located on the flat surfaces of the disc). Available as either uncoated, or with finishing options including nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) and gold (Ni-Cu-Ni-Au) plated coatings for maximum protection against corrosion & oxidation.

Standard Dimensional Tolerances for NdFeB Disc Magnets

Standard diameter tolerances for Rare Earth Magnets (SmCo & NdFeB) based on the following dimensions:

  • +/- 0.004" on dimensions ranging from 0.040" to 1.000".
  • +/- 0.008" on dimensions ranging from 1.001" to 2.000".
  • +/- 0.012" on dimensions ranging from 2.001" to 3.000".

*Tolerance on thickness is +/-0.004” regardless of size.

*Note: The maximum operating temperature for a magnet is dependent on the magnetic circuit that it is operating in. The values above are a guide assuming that the magnet is operating at a permeance coefficient of 1. The higher the permeance coefficient, the higher the temperature the magnet can operate in. The values noted indicate the temperatures at which the magnetic characteristics begin to decline more rapidly. The Curie temperature (at which the magnets become demagnetized and cannot be remagnetized) for standard neodymium magnets is 310°C or 590°F.
